Metal Injection Molding

Metal Injection Molding: Injectamax Corp, Stainless Steel, Molybdenum, Tool Steels, Tunsgten, ASTM F15 Kovar, ASTM F75 CoCr Stainless, Copper Alloy Steels

Medical products (not actual size) using the Metal Injection Molding (MIM) process, including Surgical Needle Carriers, an Infusion Pump, and Dissecting Forceps

Metal Injection Molded part with complex shape and cutouts; internal threading formed during molding process

Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology is used to create complex and / or prismatic-type custom parts. MIM is ideal for your tight tolerance parts, or customized complex-shaped parts. Low volume to medium volumes up to 350K and weights up to 500 grams.

With the MIM process there is virtually no design restrictions or compromising. MIM is ideal for tight tolerance parts, customized metal alloys and complex shaped parts. The part you want is the part you get.

Facts About Metal Injection Molding

MIM can significantly add performance benefits by:

  • Shortening the development cycles
  • Reducing or eliminating secondary machining operations
  • Reducing or eliminating secondary finishing operations
  • Minimizing material waste – net shape

We incorporate production molding machines that range from 17 tons to 50 tons, capable of producing parts from a few grams to several hundred grams.

Casting Capabilities from Moore Technology Partners

Our partner casting companies provide a competitive advantage for our customers through design freedom and flexibility, which allows for very close tolerances and reliability.

Our partner casting companies:

  • Employ vacuum sintering furnaces, including atmospheric furnaces, capable of achieving temperatures in excess of 2700 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Are compliant to an ISO 9001:2000 Quality Control System
  • Are certified by TUV America
  • Have FDA Class I facilities

Other standards our casting partners employ that also comply with the United States Government Military Standards include:

  • MIL-Q-9858A for overall quality system compliance
  • MIL-I-45208 for overall inspection system requirements
  • MIL-STD-105E for inspection lot sampling
  • MIL-STD-45662 for calibration recall systems

Use the MIM Advantage to help achieve a better casting solution for your requirements, including:

  • Lower cost
  • Shorten production cycles
  • High repeatability
  • Excellent surface finish
  • Minimal, if any secondary operations
